Save Million Trees is a social initiative launched with a mission to spread awareness on reducing paper usage in offices and sensitizing people to embrace paperless offices.
30 years ago, when computers came into our lives, they bore the possibility and promise of “paperless" offices. Today, it is a sad truth that our paper hunger overall has not only grown, but has multiplied many times over – to almost 400% since then. 4 billion trees – 35% of all harvested trees in the world – is cut down just for paper. Startling, isn’t it?
Offices are singled out to be the highest consumers of paper and are the key contributors to cutting down crores of trees from our planet. India alone cuts 40 crore trees each year for paper. A recent study claims that India’s demand for paper is predicted to rise 53 % in the next six years. It is expected to rise from the current 13 million tons (mt) to approximately 20 mt by 2020.
Keeping up and accepting the rapidly changing face of technology in our way of life is the key to reduce our carbon footprint and acknowledge the many benefits that it bring from a paperless planet.
Save Million Trees initiative aims at effectively empowering and motivating large corporates, organizations and government bodies to embrace this social initiative and substantially reduce the production and consumption of paper in offices, saving millions of trees, year after year…
